John Gee, a man who invented the design for the Ipod in the 1970s only to see Apple steal his design. Just so you have a picture you can see his company logo that he thinks looks exactly like an Ipod at the following website:
He actually believes this is the case and is a man of many, many tall tales. He claims to have played at The Cavern 187 times as a drummer in the 60s and once saw John Lennon getting buggered by a roadie of another band, ”that sort of behaviour went on all the time, they were all at it, but not me.”
John is the type of man who everyone dreads seeing, I was warned about his ego and condescending nature before my first meeting with him last month. He kept the receptionists talking for over an hour about how great his business is and how people like ourselves should be thankful to work with him for his name alone.
He argues every little point and talks to you as if you haven’t the first clue about how to perform to any standard in your job. His account was passed on to me due to a workmate leaving last year so I explained that I’d had a quick look at the details but that I was going to take a fresh look at things and could we talk through everything again. Despite this, John continued to talk down to me and argue every little point, punctuating with stories of his past as a grand musician who played with and supplied equipment for all the best bands Liverpool have had to offer over the last 40 years.
He also gave Eric Clapton his first guitar and lured Ravi Shankar over for a jam with George Harrison at Elvis Presley’s scouse mansion.
As I walked him out to his car after a depressing hour long meeting, Mr Gee stopped a man who was smoking outside to berate him for his habit. He had never had a health problem in his whole life and has no problem getting insurance for anything, despite his age. He does have a problem making friends though.
All you need is love, I guess he’s seen very little over the years.
