”You shouldn’t let your job stop you from hitting people”

Would you desert the club that you have supported since you were a boy and go over to their fiercest rivals just because the new stadium is outside the city boundaries? This is a dilemma that a minority of Everton fans will be facing if they ever leave the city and relocate to Kirkby alongside a Tesco for the convenience of shopaholic football fans.
I mean they are never going to actually leave so it’s irrelevant, but stood outside The Pilgrim a few Saturday’s ago an Everton fan decided it was time to vent his anger at Liverpool Football Club and anyone who supported a team that was a) Outside of the town they were born or b) not the team that their father had supported (if their father was originally from another town).
He won’t even accept all those ”twats from St Helens” who come over to support Everton. Those fans who have poured years of their lives into ‘his’ football club, spending their money, showing support through thick and years of thin.He hates Liverpool with all of his black, black heart and cheers on any team that plays against them, including the Mancs. He tries not to have any Red friends and he’s so much of a Blue that he had a season ticket for 6 years when he was younger!
Despite this if Everton do knock down Goodison and relocate to Knowlsey ”Why the fuck would anyone want to support a team from Knowsley?!! ” he will be forced to become a Liverpool fan, giving his all for the red cause as Everton will be dead to him.
So even though he would be leaving the club that his father supported and his father before that, and even though the club itself will not lose it’s history and foundation as a Liverpool club, he would still rather go over to the enemy and follow Liverpool. His reasoning behind this? They won’t have sold out (well that’s up for debate!) and left the city boundaries, and technically they are Everton II anyway. I wonder if he’d have stopped supporting them when they left Anfield to take up residence at Goodison back in 1892. *
Just what would a great sporting man like John Parrott say about this fella? A man of true sporting integrity and someone who would never sell out for a few quid more, when his best days were well behind him. I bet he’d be disgusted and give him the thumbs down just like he does to those who get an answer wrong on The John Parrott Sports Quiz, which you can find in 30,000 pubs throughout the UK!
*Everton have played at 4 different locations during their time.

  1. Kate says:

I'm surprised Parrot said this. How can he even consider supporting Liverpool if he's such a devout Evertonian?

    Traitor.

Then again, he would be making the right choice, because Everton are sh!t. Liverpool are slightly less sh!t (although I'm hoping they'll sort themselves out and power back to form).
